TIMELINE: 8 Days

APPLICATIONS USED: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop

CONSTRAINTS:Covid-19

ABOUT THE VIDEO PROCESS:

My Intro to Design IV class required students to work in teams of three to create board games for kids of kindergarten and elementary school age. After designing the project partly remotely due to Covid-19, our team was faced with the challenge of social distancing and quarantining. As a result, the class was not able to have in person toy demonstrations as usual, which meant the teams had 10 days to create videos to indicate how the game worked. As a team, we felt that we had all contributed extensively to the project and had built a solid friendship after working through the challenges together. Because of our collaborative environment, we wanted everyone to appear or contribute to the making of the video. Because I had previous directing and editing experience, I took charge of the project and laid out a plan; 2 day of story boarding, 3 day of video shooting, and 5 days of editing. I decided to have my teammates appear as the two players of the game and have a demonstration round. The demonstration would include conversations and hand interactions between them. Our challenge was one of our teammates had to quarantine, which meant I had to write out the entire script in two days, so that they could each have enough time to film on day 3-5. We were fortunate enough to keep to schedule and I ended up with 5 days of editing. Because of our cooperation, a teammate and I were able to do a final shoot on day 9 together to strengthen our project.
